Crispy Masala Bread Rolls

The Fragrance of crispy and delicious bread rolls made by my mother’s hands in my childhood is still fresh in my memories. The smell of bread rolls being fried in hot oil used to make my mouth water. Now when we are unable to keep track of time in this rush life, I feel like making something that reminds me of my childhood. So I am going to share my special bread roll recipe with you. Whether breakfast in the morning or a little hunger in the evening, this recipe is made all the time and it tastes amazing with tea.

Bread roll is an Indian recipe, which is filled with mashed potatoes and some green vegetables. To make it, you do not need to bring extra ingredients from the market, all the ingredients are present in your kitchen, which you can make quickly and enjoy it with your children and family members. I often enjoy crispy bread rolls with my family during holidays.

About This Bread Roll Recipe

Bread rolls are filled with spicy potato and vegetable, and are crispy on the outside. In this process, the potato and vegetable mixture is placed on the bread and folded. After folding, breadcrumbs are applied on it and then it is deep fried in a frying pan.

If you don’t like deep frying, you can also bake it. I like deep frying because when deep fried, bread rolls become crispy and are extremely tasty, whereas baked, they are not as crispy.

When I make stuffing for this bread rolls, I often use the same stuffing that I use to make potato paratha  and potato pakora. Bread rolls made with this kind of stuffing are very popular in homes.

While making potato and vegetable stuffing, I like to add curd because I like sourness. Apart from curd, lemon juice or dry mango powder is also used to bring sourness in the stuffing. If you also like sourness, then you can use any of these or you can skip it.

I always used fresh bread to make bread rolls because fresh bread does not break while rolling, while old bread starts breaking. I always use fresh bread while making rolls because I saw my mother making it in my childhood and when I asked her about this recipe, she told me about the quality of fresh and old bread. Without any delay So let’s start make Bread Roll-

Ingredients list

  • 10 pieces fresh bread
  • 1 cup curd
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup grated potato
  • 1 cup grated carrot
  • 1 cup chopped capsicum
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomato
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 3-4 pieces chopped green chili
  • 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 teaspoon oil for stuffing (2 cups oil will be required separately for frying)

Instruction

Prepare stuffing-

1-To prepare the stuffing for bread roll, first take curd in a bowl.

2-Take 2 medium sized potatoes, after that peel and grates them. Remember to wash the potatoes nicely after grating them. Washing potatoes thoroughly remove extra starch from them. After washing, mix it in curd.

3- After adding grated potatoes to the curd, take two medium-sized carrots and grate them as well and mix them.

4- After this, cut 1 green capsicum into small pieces and add it in the mixture. You can take capsicum of any color.

5- Now chop one medium sized onion and one medium sized tomato into fine pieces and add it to the mixture.

6-After adding all the vegetables to the mixture, add 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 1 teaspoon cumin powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 3-4 pieces of chopped green chili and 1/2 cup chopped coriander and mix well.

7-After mixing all the ingredients, heat the fry pan on the stove. Put 2 spoons of oil in frying pan and add the previously prepared mixture. cover the fry pan with a lid and let it cook on medium flame for 10 minutes. When the mixture is cooked, remove the frying pan from the stove and leave it to cool. While the mixture cools down, we will prepare the bread slices.

Prepare the Bread Slices-

1-To make bread slices, first cut the all sides of fresh piece of bread. Then roll them with a rolling pin to make them larger in size.

2-After cutting the edges of the bread, do not throw them away rather put the edges in the mixer and grind them. This will prepare our breadcrumbs and we will not need to buy breadcrumbs from the market.

Prepare the Batter-

Now to prepare the batter, add 1 cup of flour to water and make a batter. Do not make the batter too thin nor too thick.

Shape and fry the bread roll

Now finally, to give it the shape of a roll, we will put the already prepared mixture on the bread pieces (one spoon of mixture per piece of bread). After putting the mixture on the bread, we will fold the bread and finally stick the edges of the bread with water or batter.

Fold all the rolls in the same way. After folding, dip the rolls well in the batter and apply breadcrumbs all around.

When all the rolls are coated with breadcrumbs, deep fry them in a frying pan. Keep in minds that fry them on medium flame only. On medium flame, the bread becomes crispy and the color is also good. When the color of the roll becomes golden brown, take it out from the frying pan. In this way our crispy bread roll is ready.

Serve this delicious crispy bread roll with green coriander sauce.
