  • Apple – You can use any kind of apples. Crisp, sweet or tart.

  • Olive oil – For the dressing.
  • Mustard paste- For the dressing
  • Goat cheese – You can use any kind of cheese, but I usually use goat cheese.
  • Pecans – Walnuts work too, chopped pistachios and almonds are my favorite things to add to salads.
  • Honey – Used to lightly sweeten the dressing.
  • Apple cider vinegar – For the dressing.
  • Salt and pepper – Ground salt and ground black pepper for the vinaigrette

How to make apple arugula salad

To make arugula apple salad, first of all wash the apples well and cut them. Apples have to be cut in the form of slices. Cutting them in the form of slices gives a good texture to the salad. After this, cut the cucumber into small pieces. After this, soak the arugula in water and dry it well.

Now put one spoon of mustard paste, apple vinegar, one tablespoon of honey, virgin olive oil, crushed black pepper and salt as per taste in a jar, close the jar with a lid and mix it well by shaking it. This will prepare the dressing.

 Now put chopped apple and chopped cucumber in a bowl, then pour dressing on top and mix it well with a spoon to make apple-cucumber mixture. Remember to not mix the entire dressing in the mixture, keep some dressing aside.

In another plate, first spread half the arugula nicely. Then place half the apple-cucumber mixture on top of it. Now put pecans, chopped pita and almonds on top. In this way, the first layer is ready. In the same way, prepare the second layer as well. Finally, pour the remaining dressing on top.

How to choose the best arugula?

Arugula leaves should be bright and green. They should not be yellow or brown.

The leaves should be crisp. They should not be wilted or limp.

Arugula leaves should not have holes or tears.

The leaves should have a mild peppery aroma. This aroma is a sign of fresh leaves.

Clumpy leaves with excessive compaction should be avoided as they contain moisture and leaves that contain moisture will spoil quickly.

Note-

If you like peeled pecans more, then first heat a dry pan on low flame. When the pan is hot, add pecans to it and cook for 5-6 minutes. Keep in mind that the flame should not be high. If the flame is high, the pecans will burn. After adding pecans to the pan, keep stirring them with a spoon. When you see that the nuts have become light golden and have started giving fragrance, remove the pecans from the pan and keep them aside to cool. If you leave them to cool in the pan, it takes time for the pan to cool down, in such a situation there is a fear of pecans burning.

When the pecans cool down, cut them into large pieces and prepare them.

Coasted pecans are added to the upper part of the apple so that it does not go to the bottom of the salad and remains crisp till the end.
